LR01: OUT OF BOUNDS. (OOB) (Rule 2)
- a) OOB is defined by the line between the course-side points at ground level, of Boundary Objects such as white stakes, lines and fence posts.
- b) The Clubhouse, Car Park, Practice Pitching Area and Practice Putting Green are OOB and are defined by white stakes/lines.
- c) The right-hand edge of the buggy paths, to the right, and for the full lengths, of holes 14 and 18, are deemed to define the OOB. All ground right of the path edges is OOB. Local Rule LR06 applies to a ball lying on these paths and free relief may being taken on the left side.
- d) On hole 13, from the large ash tree, right of the fairway, to the 14th tee, the right edge of the buggy path similarly defines the OOB
- e) Beyond the far edge of the buggy path behind the 3rd Green is OOB.
- f) The white stakes/lines to the left of the 10th hole are Boundary Objects and define OOB only when playing the 10thWhen playing the 9th, or any other hole, the stakes are deemed Immovable Obstructions, from which, free relief may be taken under Rule 16.1(b).
LR02: PENALTY AREAS. (RULE 17)
Penalty Areas are defined by red stakes/lines. Red stakes are Immovable Obstructions when a ball lies outside a Penalty Area and in the General Area. (Inside a Penalty Area, Rule 17 applies: no relief). From the point of junction of paths below the ladies’ 8th tee to the terminal red stake by the 11th tee, the downhill edge of the buggy path defines the boundary of the Penalty Area.
LR03: PROTECTION OF YOUNG TREES. (RULE 16.)
Young trees identified by a stake, protective wrapping or blue band are No Play Zones.
– If a player’s ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a Penalty Area, and it lies on or touches such a tree, or such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take free relief under Rule 16.1b.
LR04: IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREEN. (RULE 16)
Relief from interference by an Immovable Obstruction may be taken under Rule 16.1.
In addition, if a player’s ball lies in the General Area and an Immovable Obstruction is on the player’s Line of Play and is:
– Within two club-lengths of the putting green, and
– Within two club-lengths of the ball,
The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.
LR05: GROUND UNDER REPAIR. (GUR) AND NO PLAY ZONE. (NPZ) (RULE16)
Areas of GUR are defined by blue stakes/lines/ropes.
A No Play Zone is part of an Abnormal Course Condition and is defined by blue stakes with green tops. Play is prohibited from GUR and NPZ. Free relief from GUR must be taken under Rules 16.1a 16.1(b), 16.1(c), 16.1(d) or 16.1(e) as appropriate. Free relief from a NPZ must be taken under Rules 16.1e or 16.1(f).
LR06: IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE GENERAL AREA. (RULE 16)
Artificially surfaced roads, paths, exposed stone-filling/rock and access steps in the General Area, together with any of their timber sides or frames, are Immovable Obstructions, from which, free relief may be taken under Rule 16.1.
LR07: INTEGRAL OBJECTS. (RULE 2)
The safety fence between the 3rd hole and 16th tee, shed adjacent to the 4th tee, overhead wires and support pole on the 10th hole, the shed at the rear of the 16th green and the safety fence at the 18th tee are Integral Objects from which there is no free relief.
LR08: WATER DAMAGE TO BUNKERS. (Rule 16)
Areas in Bunkers where sand has been removed by the movement of water, resulting in deep furrows through the sand, are GUR. Relief may be taken under Rule 16.1c.
LR09: ANIMAL HOOF PRINTS. (Rule 16)
Damage that is clearly identifiable as having been caused by animal hooves is GUR from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1.
[But on the Putting Green, Rule 16.1 does not apply as such damage may be repaired under Rule 13.1.]
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE: General Penalty. (RULE 1.3c(2))
INFORMATION FOR PLAYERS.
1) On a Putting Green, alternative holes and their covers are deemed Immovable Obstructions from which free relief may be taken under Rule 16.1(d)
2) Double Staking. When two similarly coloured stakes are placed approximately 300mm (12 ins) of each other, this indicates that the line of the condition being marked continues in the direction indicated by the double staking.
3) When there are stakes and lines, the line is definitive.
